Job Description
You will be expected to:
Undertake and lead assignments in Australia and overseas
Lead, project manage and undertake assignments in Australia and internationally
Deliver engineering solutions and report results, and undertake structural design and analysis using across a broad range of structural types and using various international standards
Coordinate design as part of an internal team and liaise with external associated professionals and our clients
Carry out peer reviews, to ensure consistency and excellence in delivery of our technical work product
Act as a line manager with involvement in resourcing, recruitment, training and mentoring and coaching
Assist and support the development and maintenance of a high level of technical capability to deliver services
Monitor staff time and budgets against assignment programme and agree appropriate actions where necessary
Assist in the management of the design process that may include other related design disciplines
Assist in the planning and organisation of resources, to maximise fee income and resource utilisation
Adopt procedures for standardisation of work products and deliverables, and peer review to ensure consistency and excellence in service delivery of the Company’s technical work product
Implement and adhere to Company procedures in the management, delivery and administration of Services
Assist in developing business opportunities, securing business and developing client relationships
Maintain strong relationships with other disciplines within the firm, and manage client relationships
Assist with the organisation and management of the technical staff, acting as a line manager, supporting staff recruitment, training, CPD and implementation of ‘Best Practice’ and procedures
Support Graduates through the processes and requirements for completion of their Chartership
Qualifications
To be successful, you will have the following qualifications and be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge in some of the following areas:
Substantial experience within the Maritime Engineering field, working on large and technically complex projects
Experience managing maritime projects for clients
Degree qualified Civil Engineer, Chartered with Engineers Australia or equivalent
Strong working knowledge of structural processes and design, with particular emphasis on data interpretation, design and analysis, construction and advanced numerical modelling
Working knowledge of structural processes and design with a particular emphasis on civil maritime works including quay walls, piling, dredging, berthing and mooring analysis and jacket design
Extensive knowledge of Australian Standards, Eurocodes, BS 6349, PIANC and other national and international industry standards, contracts, methodologies, procedures and best practice relating to maritime engineering
Experience of computer analysis of structures and design of structural elements in common materials i.e. steel, concrete and composite
Experience in detailed design of onshore and offshore structures with various construction methods
Substantial project management experience, ensuring efficient planning, execution and successful project delivery
Experience should include large scale (c. $200m+), high profile infrastructure projects, for a range of Australia and international Clients in various construction market sectors, including Design & Build projects
People management experience e.g. general employee welfare, carrying our appraisals, training and development, involvement in resourcing and recruitment activities
Knowledge and experience in structural analysis/finite element software such as Midas, SPACE GASS or similar finite element/structural analysis software; Wallap, Plaxis or similar quay wall analysis software
Excellent Microsoft Office abilities (particularly Excel)
